About CAT Exam:

CAT exams marks are valid for admission to all the 20 IIM campuses across India and all the rest B-schools across India. Eligibility Criteria for CAT Exam

The candidate must satisfy the criteria specified below for CAT exam:

A candidate must hold a bachelor's degree, with greater than 50% or equal CGPA and it may vary for the reserved categories (45% for SC, ST and PWD/Differently Able (DA) categories mostly)

Candidates appearing in their final year of bachelor’s degree or some equivalent qualification exams and the individuals who may have finished their degree requirements and are awaiting the results can also apply. If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the program for a temporary time frame, if they present a certificate at most by June of the same year from the dean or registrar of their college or institute which should express that the candidate has finished each one of the pre requirements for acquiring the four year college education or any identical ability on the date of the issuing of the certificate.

CAT Exam Pattern:

The exam pattern for the CAT exam has been changed many times in the past few years. For the previous 2 years but the pattern has remained mostly the same with respect to the total marks and number of sections.

So a brief detail for the exam pattern is as follows:

Sections are as follows: Quantitative Aptitude(QA), Verbal Ability(VA), Reading Comprehension(RC), Logical Reasoning(LR), Data Interpretation(DI)

Exam locations are announced online in the month of July after for each city. Then the candidate is required to give 4 preferences for exam centres at the time of registering.

CAT Exam Syllabus

For the CAT exam, there is no defined syllabus but the syllabus is mostly from the middle school topics of mathematics, and English with some of the general logical reasoning questions. A few details of CAT syllabus are as follows:

Quantitative Aptitude (QA): The syllabus for CAT quantitative aptitude mainly includes the topics from the class 8th to 10th.

Logical Reasoning & Data Interpretation (LR and DI): The logical reasoning part is very general and a huge variety of ques based on the seating plan etc. are included. The data interpretation part includes ques mostly based on data case-lets and graphs.

Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VA and RC): In this part the comprehension passages are given along with a few ques. Apart from that some of the grammar-based ques like line completion, jumbled sentence, etc. are also asked in the test.
